Starting a licensed child care facility takes some preparation. To get licensed in each area requires certain rules and regulations to be followed before a local agency will grant the license. It is not difficult to do but takes time and an investment in supplies and required adjustments to the place you plan to use as child care facility. There are also safety requirements that need to be met and adhered to including rules for the staff person or people who will be working at the facility. Research your area to learn about the kinds of child care facilities located near you. You may find that there is a shortage of facilities for one age group over another, infant versus preschool or school age and so forth. Go for what is needed. Decide on the hours you will be open.
