Tanzanian food mainly consists of ugali (thick cornmeal), rice, potatoes and chapatti. This may be served for dinner with beans, eggplant, greens, chicken or meat stew. Food throughout much of East Africa is similar and, at first, we found the food to be much like that in Kenya. The Indian Chapati bread is eaten in Tanzania as it is over much of East Africa.
