Today more restaurants are offering detailed information in convenient formats including brochures, posters, in-store computer kiosks and web sites. A uniform, national standard should provide similar flexibility for chain food service establishments to communicate detailed nutrition information to their guests but require that information to be provided in writing in the restaurant. In this respect, it could mean providing nutrition information on a separate menu, on the main menu, at a kiosk in the food service establishment or in a brochure available at the food service establishment. The key elements are that the information be comprehensive in nature, like the nutrition facts box on packaged goods, and available in writing at the restaurant.
